  • #10 Spammers Can Be Tricky

Posted by Jake Stewart on 11/21/2016 8:05:00 AM

    ɢoogle.com Google.com google.com

One of these is not like the others. Can you guess which one?

Its the first one. ɢoogle.com is not actually Google. Notice how the first G appears to be a capital letter but is the size of the lower case letters. That's because its not actually a G...well...according to web browsers at least. To a web browser it's simple the unicode character U+0262. If you were to enter that address into a browser you would end up redirecting yourself to xn--oogle-wmc.com which is a spam site and most definitely not Google. This, and similar scams, have been appearing in embedded advertisements on many popular sites. When in doubt, don't click.

  • #9 Copy Screen or Window - Tips

Posted by Steven Schoonover on 11/2/2016 5:00:00 AM

You can copy your entire screen by pressing the Print Screen key on your keyboard. To get more specific you can copy just the active window by pressing Alt+PrtScr. After copying you can then paste into any document you choose.

Alternatively, in Windows 7 and later, the Snipping Tool is easy to use. It is found under Accessories. You can copy as much or as little of any screen and save or paste it.

  • #7 Google Mail Tip

Posted by Steven Schoonover on 10/12/2016 5:00:00 AM

I find it to be a good practice to "reply all" when replying to an email. My thinking is that if the sender copied other people on the original, it is courteous and respectful to copy the others on your response. You can set this to be the default action in Google mail by clicking the gear icon in the top right corner, then click Settings:

It is recommended that you turn off your classroom projector if you are not going to be using it for 30 minutes or more. Those lamps typically have to be replaced after about 400-450 hours of use.
